LASER SPECIALISTS, INC. TAKES DELIVERY OF FIRST U.S. PRODUCED RAPIDO LASER SYSTEM
Champlin, Minnesota: Nick Pacquin, president of Laser Specialists, Inc., Fraser, Michigan, took delivery of the first Prima RAPIDO laser system produced at Prima Power Laserdyne's Champlin (Minneapolis), Minnesota facilities. Making the presentation of the system was Carl Bryant, North American sales and marketing manager for Prima 3D systems.
The milestone event is important to Laser Specialists and Prima Power Laserdyne in two significant ways:
For Laser Specialists, the addition of the Prima RAPIDO to its laser manufacturing capabilities greatly broadens its contract manufacturing operations. "As a RAPIDO-equipped contract manufacturer in the Michigan area, Laser Specialists will have an important competitive advantage," reports Mr. Pacquin. "We now have a system that will cut and trim a typical automotive B-pillar body panel in less than 50 seconds, as well as similar, very large metal components for our aerospace, appliance and electronics customers. With the RAPIDO's high acceleration and rapid traverse speed of 175 m/mm, we can produce high quality cut edges that are free from oxide and are weld and paint ready. No costly added operations are needed for preparation of the cut edges for welding, assembly and painting of the panels."
"We're thrilled to have this system because it opens new doors for us, and we are even more competitive with our existing customers. With the speed and automation of the RAPIDO, we're able to process very large components very fast, in large quantities, in a fully automated 24/7 manufacturing environment."
For Prima Power Laserdyne, the assembly of this RAPIDO system in Champlin continues the expansion of manufacturing, training and service at that location. The Champlin site is also the headquarters for design, manufacturing and service of the Laserdyne family of precision multi-axis (3D) laser systems. With both product lines now being produced in Champlin, the site is the primary location from which manufacturing, sales, service and other business activities are delivered for all Prima 3D systems in Canada, Mexico as well as the United States.
"Bringing RAPIDO manufacturing to Champlin puts us closer to customers like Laser Specialists for faster delivery, more efficient product training and localized service," reports Mr. Bryant. "The Champlin expansion further demonstrates Prima Power's commitment to the North American market."
