The 790 BEAMDIRECTOR®, a 5-axis laser machine tool, is designed to drill, cut and weld medium to large 3D parts with a unique moving beam motion system. Constructed for high-speed operation without compromising mechanical accuracy, it is the first and only standard built multi-axis laser system to guarantee volumetric accuracy. Typical applications include processing:

Ø Combustion liners
Ø Exhaust and heat shields
Ø Tubing and hydro-formed parts
Ø Nozzle guide vanes and blades
Ø Stamped and spun parts
Ø Tubing and hydro-formed parts
Ø Automotive prototypes
LASERDYNE® Model 790
(standard axis travel with Nd:YAG Laser)

The 790 BeamDirector® is designed to accept CO2 and Nd:YAG lasers for cutting, drilling and welding 2D and 3D parts used by aerospace, turbine engine and job shop industries. The open frame architecture and moving beam motion system allows it to be configured to handle parts of virtually unlimited size. Conforms to CDRH rules, CE compliant, and is in use around the world. Features the field proven and time tested direct drive Laserdyne Systems BeamDirector® with fully integrated Automatic Focus Control (AFC)™. The 34mm (1.2") clear aperture allows integration of a wide variety of high powered CO2 and Nd:YAG lasers.

The System 94 controller includes dual CPU processors with a Windows NT® operating system, LPC laser process control software, and single point laser control in the man/machine interface. Industry leading software has been developed especially for shape hole drilling and contouring of difficult to program parts. Programmable control of unique Nd:YAG laser features (ICT™ and VSM™) is standard.

The 790 BeamDirector® is extremely reliable and designed to operate around the clock with minimal maintenance. Servo drives with internal self-diagnostics, armored cables and connectors, air purged optical path and mirrors that are easy to remove for cleaning without need for realignment, all add up to a reliable laser machine giving maximum performance with minimal downtime.

790 BeamDirector® features:
  • Rigid structure incorporates a granite base, heavy-duty steel weldment construction with precision machined surfaces, large diameter, high rigidity ball screws, wide track rails and long bearing cars.
  • The mass and center of gravity concentrated at floor level with three-point leveling, oversized pads, forklift and eye-bolt lift points.
  • Performance is a function of the combined features of speed, accuracy and stability - fast contouring while maintaining 3D accuracy yields smoother cuts on three-dimensional parts.
  • Networkable Controller with dual CPUs and Windows NT™ .
  • High capacity BeamDirector® direct drive design eliminates gears and belts for higher accuracy, allowing greater travel and reach over zero offset style wrists.
  • Capable to processing 45° above horizontal.
  • Unique, comprehensive crash protection with exclusive 5-year warranty against crash-related damages for the BeamDirector®.
  • Auto Focus Control - a unique Laserdyne concept. All machine axes react to sensing of part surface, creating unlimited "R" axis correction with speed and unmatched sensitivity.
  • AutoNormal™ quickly & accurately positions the BeamDirector® to any surface.
  • Feature Finding™ locates tooling and part reference features.
  • In-Fixture Gaging™verifies correct work piece location.
  • Selectable Seek™ allows automatic focus control along a selectable axis - a must for aerospace/turbine part processing.
  • Weld AFC provides focus control for laser welding.
  • System 94W laser process control programs with G and M codes, designed specifically for laser processing, providing integrated laser and motion control.
Options include:
