Z A P H I R O - THE LASER QUALITYZAPHIRO is the newest, 2D laser cutting system from PRIMA INDUSTRIE. With a design that features linear motors, the latest PRIMA CNC and the innovative Perfect Cut System, ZAPHIRO is capable of sustained, very high productivity with outstanding cut and part quality.
The ZAPHIRO design provides for high dynamic motion with top cutting quality. The linear motors and the rigid structure feature a maximum combined speed of 240 m/min (9449 inches/min) drastically reducing production times and costs.
A unique feature of the ZAPHIRO is the Perfect Cut System, an intelligent system that allows real time detection of cutting quality and automatic correction of system parameters in case the quality differs from the desired standards. This highly innovative feature provides zero-defect, zero-waste production and is absolutely essential for intensive, unmanned production. Perfect Cut works by storing on the system CNC a sample cutting piece for each material and thickness that is used by the system. These samples serve as references to judge the cut quality during the process. The sensitivity of the system can be set according to the application and to the required result. There is no risk of production defects or waste: in two words, the “perfect production.”
Another important innovation of ZAPHIRO is the laser beam delivery head, a further evolution of PRIMA INDUSTRIE 2D heads. The new F axis, with a higher dynamic response and longer stroke, allows substantial cycle time reduction and superior cutting quality. The new “cartridge design” lens change system is extremely quick and easy-to-use.
ZAPHIRO offers another big advantage to the user - customized processing parameters for every application to help ensure top performance and results. With Beam Size Control (BSC), the laser beam diameter is adjusted to the material type and thickness to be cut. Flexibility, productivity and quality are thus further improved.
ZAPHIRO is also equipped with a new robust sheet metal supporting table with more efficient fume exhausting. The system also includes a new faster pallet changer featuring a smart sensor that adapts the transfer speed to the weight of the transported sheet.
ZAPHIRO is provided with P30L, the latest generation numerical control manufactured within the PRIMA Group. Faster and more powerful, the new numerical control is compatible with all previous control versions and with all PRIMA INDUSTRIE 2D machines. It features a new, easy-to-use slim console with 17-inch touch screen for operator control.
For off-line programming ZAPHIRO includes the easy, fast and smart MAESTRO-Libellula system. The highly effective and accurate Nesting Module, the Tables-on-Board (TOB) and the Integrated Virtual Machine with detailed and precise reporting are some of the winning features of this system.
ZAPHIRO is equipped with CV5000 laser allowing cutting up to 25 mm (1.0 inch) material thickness with quality and efficiency. The CV5000 lasers feature a magnetic support turbine, solid state high voltage power unit, servo-controlled gas mixing that adjusts gas usage as a function of power and the new “zero-emission” gas discharge device.
Like all PRIMA INDUSTRIE 2D systems, ZAPHIRO can be integrated with automation systems from simple sheet metal loading/unloading to the most advanced FMS in use today, the FINN-POWER Night Train. This FMS is generally recognized to be the leader in factory-wide automaton systems.
